Programme Synopsis
In his book, Coaching for Performance, Sir John Whitmoor describes coaching as:
‘ Unlocking a persons potential to maximise their own performance ’
To understand this is to understand that every individual has the potential to achieve more once they have a clear understanding of the goal and the support necessary to achieve it. The main difference between the manager as a coach and they more traditional manager is that by coaching, the manager helps the individual to learn rather than teaching.
Coaching should be used or asked for when an individual believes that working together with a coach, or as a coach, will lead to improved performance.
Effective coaching skills will help others:
- Reach their full potential
- Identify and maximise individual strengths
- Overcome personal and team obstacles
- Achieve new skills and competencies
- Prepare themselves for new responsibilities
- Improve self management
- Clarify and work towards team and personal performance goals
This programme has been designed to enhance the skills and techniques of managers, leaders and potential leaders.
